Banana Leaf Rice | Devi's Corner, Bangsar

I was brought here by my younger sister to ease de sudden crave for banana leaf rice on my birthday. we did not patronize de famous shop as she claimed this place served better food and furthermore, it is air-conditioned. in Devi's Corner, banana leaf rice is only served on de first floor while de ground floor served de usual mamak food. this place was really packed during lunch time. but thank god we did not need to queue for a table because today is my birthday (nahhh just saying). de place is mostly filled with communal tables, if you're lucky you may get a table for four at de corner for better privacy.

de waiter came promptly to take orders even though they were busy. once we placed our orders, they started merry-go-round de table by serving firstly de "banana leaf", then rice (don't be greedy), followed by de multiple side dishes, including my favourite deep-fried bitter gourd, assorted vegetables, potatoes, and mango chutney. if you want to pick on something from Devi's Corner, perhaps it would probably be de slightly longer time they took when you asked for cutlery (as most people eat with their hands).

Banana Leaf Rice with Crab Curry.
spot de yummy deep-fried bitter gourd in red. you get to choose de type of dhal (curry) you want. there are four different types of curry available: chicken, mutton, fish, and crab. personally, I like crab curry de most even though it turned out to be de spiciest of all. very rich and flavourful =)

CLOCKWISE (side dishes):
#1  Pappadam (complementary)
#2  Mutton Varuval (dry fry)
#3  Squid
#4  Chicken Marsala
de tastiness increase gradually from chicken, mutton to squid. if you want to save some space for de rice (it is very filling) but still indulge yourself, choose squid. if cholesterol is a major concern, choose mutton although it doesn't sound any healthier. mutton was well-marinated but it was slightly hard to chew.

Mango Lassi.
though not a good combo with banana leaf rice, it is good.

seriously, you can skip dinner after this meal. WHERE'S MY OATS?
