28th Birthday | TWG Tea, Pavilion KL

my first visit to de TWG Tea was for an afternoon tea at Singapore few years back before it came to Malaysia. TWG Tea is well-known for offering more than hundred types of tea which are classified based on colour: red, white, black, yellow, green, and blue. we selected Lu Yu Tea at random #mynamewithonedifferentalphabet and concluded that it wasn't de taste that everyone would like. de price starts from RM18 per pot and varies depending on de tea selectiontheir tea list is longer than any other thing or perhaps you can just minimanimo for one.

TWG golden teapot.
each teapot usually caters for one person and is able to serve up to 3-4 cups with no refill. de distinctive golden teapot was lovely from far but when observed closely we found it covered with a lot of scratches. since TWG is all about tea finest tea and delectable dessert, I think de scratches on their golden teapot somehow do matters, especially in a restaurant that features a classy environment.

Egg Benedict with Turkey Ham   RM30
(choice of smoked salmon is available)
de dish comprised of homemade toasted English muffins with turkey ham, two poached eggs and topped with hollandaise sauce. I didn't really like it as de hollandaise sauce was a bit to de sour side. English muffin was pretty dry and tasteless too.

Crispy Seared Salmon   RM42
served with shimeji mushrooms, asparagus, fennel, and carrot sautéed in a Silver Moon Tea infused cream sauce. although it didn't seem to be a very interesting meal, I like de shimeji mushrooms with a little buttery aroma.

Chocolate Fondant   RM19
it was a rich chocolate fudge cake served with a scoop of homemade Vanilla Bourbon Tea ice-cream. "Bourbon vanilla" has a distinctive vanilla flavour and it is a name given for vanilla grown in Madagascar and islands in de Indian Ocean. food aside, we were surprised as de dessert was served concurrently with de mains and we have to tell de waiter to serve only after meal. we didn't really expect a top-notch service but at least they should comply with de basic food service. and unfortunately, de dessert that was served later on came with an almost melted ice-cream. luckily it could be replaced with a new scoop based on request and no doubt waiters were friendly. despite de peculiar service, chocolate cake was rich and yummy but de complex Bourbon Vanilla ice-cream (taste of spice) wasn't really our favourite.

de main menu didn't seem to be promising. nevertheless, de calm and quiet environment is indeed a great place for a relaxing afternoon tea. next visit shall we? (:

turning 28, carpe diem!
