this was a family outing in Spasso Milano. Spasso, meaning entertainment or fun in Italian. instead of trying de buffet style of antipasti bar and dessert or set lunch, we opted for de ala-carte menu for a quality eating.
from upper left and clockwise:
#1 Greenpea Soup RM18.80
#2 Bruschetta Tomato RM14.80
#3 Grilled Portobello Mushroom Salad RM26.80
it wasn't really a good start as I was extremely disappointed with de grilled portobello mushroom salad at first sight. it didn't seem inviting nor palatably grilled at all (so dry!) I think rocket leaves are organic. for bruschetta, it wasn't crusty and was pretty bland. greenpea soup, on de other hand, was too milky and sweet for my liking. de only promising starter was de garlic toasted focaccia as it made a good dipping.
#4 Grilled Seabass w/ Cream Potato RM58.00 ---recommended
de dish was presented prettily with nice grill marks on it and was delicious too. you should trust a person who don't really take fish too often.
from upper right and clockwise:
#5 Chicken Bolognese Pasta RM22.80
#6 Al Pesto Pasta RM29.80 (prawns with extra charge of RM12.00)
#7 Carbonara Pasta (chicken) RM28.80
#8 Grilled Salmon Pasta RM52.00
I would rate grilled salmon first, followed by al pesto, bolognese, and carbonara. for carbonara pasta, it originally has beef but we requested to change to chicken and I expect chicken ham?. anyway, it didn't really give a good combination and de cream sauce was kinda watery too. for al pesto, de smell of basil was kinda strong and not to everyone's taste. overall, these pasta were kinda flavourless and were nothing too good to shout about.
#9 Poached Salmon RM48.80
#10 Pizza Capricciosa RM33.80
#11 Mushroom Risotto RM42.80
I was running out of words to describe their poached salmon as it tasted exactly as it was ran under boiled water but as ironic, it matched de description. pizza was a soulless dough with some toppings (slightly soggy) and de risotto wasn't particularly good either.
delicious time at Spasso Milano, perhaps only with fish? I mean grilled fish.
