Lai Po Heen 丽宝轩 | Mandarin Oriental KL

I will recommend to halal eaters since this place provide an alternative for those who cannot take pork. elegantly placed overlooking de KLCC-park, it definitely comes with a steep price to pay. anyhow to be frank this place lacks de true dimsum experience because it is after all, pork-free. to opt for a safer choice, you can choose non-pork ingredient dimsum such as prawn dumplings or pan fried beancurd roll as they came pretty decent too.
from upper left and clockwise:
#1 Appetizer- baby octopus
#2 Wok-fried turnip cake HK style
#3 Loh Mai Kai
#4 Shrimp dumplings (Har Gao)
#5 Oven-baked fragrant egg tart
#6 Steamed fluffy buns w/ BBQ chicken
#7 Pan fried beancurd rolls w/ shrimp & cheddar cheese
#8 Abalone Siew Mai
firstly, I was unhappy to see de Abalone Siew Mai because it looked bit like bloody cockles (and taste fishy too) and secondly only god knew what happened to de presentation because it was served like that- overturned abalone. egg tart seemed to miss de familiar fragrant, and moreover, de crust was not flaky and de egg yolk was not runny enough. I was told that their dimsum sauce is a in-house recipe but I personally think they need to put more effort (commercial sauce somehow taste better). nevertheless, de staffs have provided an attentive service and they were very accommodating. if I were to choose my favourite dimsum it would be shrimp dumplings, beancurd roll shrimp w/ cheese, BBQ chicken bun, and appetizer!

happy saturday!
