Jeff's Cellar | The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat

If you come to The Banjaran Hotsprings, you have to try this at least once in your lifetime. Dinning at Jeff's Cellar is indeed a fabulous gastronomic experience coupled with the unique setting within a 260 million-year-old limestone cave. To make things simple, the standout feature of Jeff's Cellar is to provide a dinning experience in a cave.

There were only 2 signature menus available. For that night, we both opted for The Chairman's Favourite. Another option was the local inspired "Tanah" menu.

Happy First Anniversary💛
XOXO

The cavern was romantically lit and furnished with classic style furnitures. The music played filled in the air and added to the atmosphere. Somehow it reminded me of the moments in Italy.

I was expecting the cave environment to be a little humid and stuffy but the minute we stepped into the Jeff’s Cellar, there was air-conditioning placed in the cave and it was cooling.

He was given a rose by the staff to hand out to me before the meal begins. It was a special touch and I couldn't deny here you also get great photography service from the staffs.

The scallop was prepared sous vide at first and then seared for extra flavour. Juicy, tender and beautifully presented in an "onsen bath".

I particularly like buttery foie gras that is paired with fruit-based sauce as I feel they make an excellent match. Just like roasted pork with apple sauce, utterly irresistible. We got to confess, the combination of the ingredients made an inspired complement to this high-fat content of foie gras.

To make the dining experience a little more special, we get to choose our steak knives from a selection of French-made Laguiole knives (different by weights). With a classic luxe look, the knife is designed in such a way to provide a smooth slice through without slopping cutting.

Do you think we need a set in our kitchen? :)

At the end of the day the staff took us to tour around the cave including a visit to the wine cellar. Overall, the staffs were attentive and friendly.

We believe tonight’s experience would be one of the best to remember and cherish. If you like the luxe experience, this is a hidden gem in Ipoh you must visit to spend a wonderful time together. We would love to come back again.
