36th Birthday | Day Trip to Genting Highlands

For my birthday celebration this year, we have decided to go on a road trip to Genting Highlands just because we missed the casino so much. But first things first,

1) Lunch | Loong Kee Restaurant, Gohtong Jaya
It was my childhood memory to stop by and dine in the Chinese restaurant at Gohtong Jaya whenever the family visited Genting Highlands. Glad to see a lot of Chinese restaurants still along here. We chose Loong Kee because it was recommended by a friend.


Overall food was good but the deep fried intestines was unexpectedly hard and has faint oily smell so I would not suggest to order. Opposite the restaurant there are stalls selling fresh vegetables and fruits.


2) Dinner | Wolfgang's Steakhouse, Resorts World Genting
The 30th Wolfgang's Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener is officially open at the Resorts World Genting as of June 2022. This year, we chose to savour the iconic New York steakhouse right here by leaving our comfort zone for Japanese dining.

The steakhouse is world-famous for its dry-aged steaks derived exclusively from Black Angus cattle. Dry-aging is a process of storing beef on racks with controlled temperature and humidity to enhance tenderness and flavour in beef. This 28-day process delivers good quality steaks, making the Wolfgang’s Steakhouse onto every single list of the best steakhouses around the world.

Some complimentary bread was served along with French butter to begin with. Picture on the right is the Wolfgang's signature house-made steak sauce using 5 ingredients.

The steak came out sizzling hot. We tried the steak sauce anyway and it tasted like crushed tomatoes with horseradish and spices (not too tangy nor spicy). For me, I prefer to enjoy the steak without sauce as it is flavourful enough on its own. 

Porterhouse for two
With 2 sides selection to compliment the steak. We have opted for sides:
i) sautéed spinach
ii) sautéed mushroom

Steak was delicious but it might get a lil fatty in the end with the cross of sautéed vegetables for my preference. Perhaps mashed potatoes can make a better pair. Though I can't say this place offer the best steak in town, but we definitely had a wonderful steakhouse experience and good time here.
